FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino provided an update regarding the agency’s efforts to address the illegal immigration crisis, while also defending his superior, FBI Director Kash Patel. In a post on X on Saturday, he responded to media speculation regarding Patel’s alleged nightlife activities. ‘I would like to share some positive developments and highlight areas where we can improve,’ he stated at the outset of his update.
I do not wish to soften my words regarding this matter – it has been challenging in my new position to remain largely silent while some media outlets persist in completely inventing narratives about our activities at the FBI. However, this is an aspect of my responsibilities as a public servant. My focus is no longer on personal interests; I am now dedicated to serving the public,” he stated, alluding to the Patel rumors.
Although I cannot cover all the inaccuracies in this single post, I will focus on the ongoing criticisms directed at Director Patel. The office of the Director is closely linked to mine, and I participate in most of the briefings he attends. He dedicates approximately 10 to 12 hours each day to meetings with various individuals, including foreign law enforcement leaders and our counter-terrorism teams, among others,” Bongino stated. “Any claim to the contrary is a demonstrable falsehood intended to undermine our reforms and erode your trust. I am resolute in my stance on this matter. You are being misled by individuals with ulterior motives that do not align with your interests.
The labor force has been diligently engaged in extended hours on task force initiatives aimed at expelling dangerous undocumented immigrants from the nation. This effort is ongoing. The message is unequivocal. If you have entered this country unlawfully to exploit our citizens, your time here is limited. These deportation and detention initiatives will significantly alter the crime landscape in the nation, especially when paired with the administration’s unwavering commitment to securing the borders. Anticipate an increase in these operations rather than a decrease,” he stated.
“Crimes against minors are of utmost importance to the workforce. Operation ‘Restoring Justice,’ which resulted in the incarceration of child predators and 764 individuals across the nation, is merely the beginning. We will strip away your freedom if you infringe upon a child’s innocence. Consider your actions carefully if you have targeted children, as you may be next,” Bongino asserted.
We are expediting the dissemination of information to Congress and the public as swiftly as possible. In the brief period since our inauguration, we have addressed inquiries regarding the assault on Representative Scalise and other Congressional members, the Nashville incident, Crossfire Hurricane, the COVID cover-up, and additional matters.
We are collaborating with the Department of Justice on the Epstein case, which involves a substantial volume of downloaded child sexual abuse material that we are currently managing. Additionally, there are victim statements that require specific protections. It is imperative that we handle this correctly, although I recognize the public’s eagerness for information dissemination, as noted by Bongino.
We are diligently working within the current budgetary constraints to prioritize our mission, exercise responsible fiscal management, identify waste and inefficiencies, and implement reforms to advance the FBI. Although the process has been challenging, we are committed to achieving our goals. We conduct weekly meetings with our Chief Financial Officer, as well as our newly appointed Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer, where we meticulously review budget items. This funding belongs to you, and it is your FBI. We remain mindful of that responsibility, he stated.
I appreciate the opportunity to communicate with you through this channel. Additional developments are underway, which will become apparent in the upcoming weeks and months. We encourage you to continue monitoring our progress and holding us accountable, he added.
