Kay wed Phil at the age of sixteen and remained unwavering during his struggles with addiction and their brief separation. Her steadfast belief in his potential played a crucial role in guiding him towards redemption and a renewed life in Christ.
As Phil developed the Duck Commander empire, Kay took care of their household, raised four sons, and became the emotional core of the family. Even after attaining fame, she remained grounded, providing love, meals, and wisdom.
In 2024, Phil received a diagnosis of early Alzheimer’s. Kay took on the role of his full-time caregiver, demonstrating grace and devotion. When he passed away in May 2025, she was by his side, holding his hand.
