Monica Crowley, a conservative author, media figure, and former Treasury official, has been confirmed as the assistant secretary of state and chief of protocol, holding the title of ambassador. The vote by lawmakers resulted in a 52-45 approval for Crowley.
As a long-time contributor to Fox News and a commentator on global affairs, Crowley previously held a position in the first Trump administration, where she was honored with the Treasury Department’s Alexander Hamilton Award.
“I am privileged to nominate Monica Elizabeth Crowley, Ph.D., to fulfill the roles of Ambassador, Assistant Secretary of State, and Chief of Protocol for the United States of America. Monica will represent the Administration at significant U.S.-hosted events, including the celebration of America’s 250th Birthday in 2026, the FIFA World Cup in 2026, and the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028,” stated President Donald Trump in a December announcement regarding her nomination.
During my initial term, Monica excelled in her role as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was awarded the Alexander Hamilton Award, the highest accolade given by the Department. Monica is a bestselling author for the New York Times and has served as a well-known anchor, as well as a political and foreign affairs analyst for the Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, among other platforms. She graduated from Colgate University and possesses two Master’s degrees along with a Doctorate in International Relations from Columbia University. She is poised to be an exceptional Representative for our Country. Congratulations, Monica,” Trump remarked at that time.
Crowley obtained her PhD in international relations from Columbia University. She became a part of the Fox News Channel in 1996, the same year it launched, and often appeared alongside host Sean Hannity on “Hannity” and its earlier version, “Hannity & Colmes,” with the late Alan Colmes.
This development coincides with a recent poll from CNN indicating that the Democratic Party is significantly trailing the Republicans regarding economic matters, which surprised CNN data expert Harry Enten.
After months of the Democrats and their media partners attempting to instill fear in Americans regarding President Donald Trump’s tariff strategies, the data analyst was astonished by the ineffectiveness of their messaging.
“The Republican Party aligns more closely with your economic perspectives. In November 2023, the Republicans led by 11 points. Currently, it remains within that range, still within the margin of error, with an eight-point advantage for the Republican Party,” the data analyst stated.
“How can this be, Democrats? How can this be after all the fears of recession, after the stock market has been behaving in this manner, after all the tariffs that Americans oppose, and yet Republicans maintain an eight-point lead regarding the economy? Are you serious?” he remarked.
“Indeed, if it were solely based on this one CNN poll, that would be one matter. However, consider the Reuters/IPSOS poll. What do we observe here? The party with a superior economic strategy. In May 2024, just prior to Donald Trump’s re-election as president, Republicans enjoyed a nine-point lead,” Enten stated.
“Examine our current situation in May 2025. The lead has actually increased by three points. Now, Republicans possess a 12-point advantage concerning the party with a more effective economic plan. This is noteworthy, especially after several months of economic — purported economic instability during which the stock market has been erratic, and the tariff disputes that Americans oppose have persisted. Yet, in spite of all this, the Democrats are trailing by 12 points on economic matters. This illustrates the Democratic challenges regarding the economy more effectively than almost any other data you could analyze,” the astonished data analyst expressed.
“The Republicans continue to hold an edge on the crucial issue of the day. This is why, even if Donald Trump’s approval ratings have dipped slightly, Republicans are still very much in the game, as they maintain a distinct advantage on economic issues, whether one examines CNN’s polls or the IPSOS poll, where they have a 12-point lead on the economy,” he concluded.
