A mother of four was surprised when New Hampshire’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) told her to give up the vanity plates she had for 15 years.
The plates serve as a gentle reminder for each of her sons to use the bathroom before getting into the car.
However, the DMV, not understanding Wendy Auger’s innocent message, decided that the plates referred to “sexual or excretory acts or functions.”
In 2019, Wendy Auger, from Rochester, New Hampshire, was told by the DMV to return the vanity license plate she had used for 15 years.
“It would really stink if I had to give it up,” said the mother of four, who often gets compliments about her funny plates.
Referring to the state’s motto, “live free or die,” Auger added, “If I have to take it off the plate, then I’m not going to be able to live free.”
