British’ man ‘lynched in Ecuador’ after being dragged out of police station and ‘burned alive’

He suffered unsurvivable injuries after the alleged attack in Ecuador

A British man, who was reportedly accused of murder, was forcibly removed from a police station and set ablaze by a group of individuals identified as vigilantes, as per local news reports.

It is claimed that he endured a horrific death at the hands of an enraged mob in Ecuador following his arrest related to a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 20.

The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been referred to as ‘British’ and ‘English’ by the local press. He was allegedly taken into custody on charges of murdering another individual.

However, just six hours post-arrest, a group of local residents reportedly invaded the police station where he was detained, allegedly in pursuit of their own form of justice.

Reports have been reported that the British individual was forcibly removed from the premises in the presence of law enforcement and subsequently transported to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.

Situated in the Amazon region of Ecuador, it ranks as the second largest reserve in the entire country, encompassing 56 national parks and protected areas.

It has been asserted that the individual was then tragically set ablaze, leading to injuries that were deemed unsurvivable.

A local television station that covered the two distressing fatalities stated: “In the early hours of Sunday, April 20, in the parish of Playas de Cuyabeno, following an event commemorating the anniversary of the Kichwa community, an incident transpired resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

“The deceased included a community member from the locality and another individual of British nationality who succumbed to the severity of his burns.”

As reported by the Ecuadorian newspaper Extra, law enforcement officials opted not to intervene during the assault.

The report indicated that law enforcement officials were concerned about becoming involved when the mob invaded the police station.

The body of the British man is reported to have been returned by the group at approximately 6:00 AM local time yesterday.

Officers faced challenges in reaching the isolated location where the mob had taken him due to the difficulties in accessing it, as the local newspaper Ecuavisa noted that Playas del Cuyabeno is typically reached by river.

Authorities in the area have yet to release a statement regarding the murder.

At this moment, it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.

In Ecuador, serious offenses such as murder are met with severe penalties, and those convicted often spend decades in prison.

Two years ago, the government initiated a crackdown on cartels and organized crime groups, leading to thousands of arrests.
