Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who is famous for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has passed away at the age of 54.
Reports say that he drowned while on vacation in Costa Rica, and the country’s Judicial Investigation Agency has confirmed this sad news.
Officials mentioned that Warner died near Cocles, a beach in Limon, after being pulled out to sea by a current while swimming at Playa Grande around 2:00-2:30 PM local time.
People nearby who saw Warner struggling in the water were able to pull him out and bring him to the shore, where responders from Costa Rica’s Red Cross attempted to revive him. Unfortunately, he was declared dead at the scene.

For his part as Cosby’s son on The Cosby Show, Warner got an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Later on, the show’s reputation changed because of Cosby’s legal troubles, including the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision to overturn his sexual assault conviction in June 2021.
Even with that, Warner mentioned in 2023 that he feels proud to have been part of it. “I can say for the whole cast that The Cosby Show is something we all still take pride in.
“We have a special experience that keeps us connected no matter how long it’s been since we last saw or heard from each other.
