Texas woman’s chilling final text before house washed away

Just moments before the floodwaters rushed into the house where she was staying, a 21-year-old woman from Texas sent a really sad text to her family, asking for help as the strong waters swept her away.

During the July 4th weekend, the Guadalupe River was out of control in Central Texas, and the floodwaters rose super fast – taking away homes, camps, and lives in its way.

As reported by AFP, “heavy rains” began the night before the holiday, making “the river rise to the level of a two-story building in less than an hour, flooding parts of Kerr County.” By July 9, at least 107 people were confirmed dead across six counties, according to NBC, including over two dozen kids and counselors from a girls’ Christian camp.

Many more people are still missing, and the number of deaths is likely to increase as the search goes on.

Among those missing were 21-year-old Joyce Badon and her three friends, Ella Cahill, Reese Manchaca, and Aiden Heartfield, who were all together at a country house by the river for the July 4 weekend.

By early morning, that house was completely gone.
